Safeguarding and Strategic Management of
University Financial Resources
The Office of the Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding and strategically managing the university’s financial resources to support its academic, research, and operational mission. Its core responsibilities include prudently investing university operating funds to generate competitive, risk-adjusted returns, preserving capital, and maintaining sufficient liquidity to meet both short-term and long-term obligations.
The Office also manages the university’s debt portfolio and internal lending by working with financial partners to issue and manage bonds and other borrowings. This includes monitoring market conditions, long-term financial planning, and optimizing the university’s capital to support strategic initiatives at the lowest feasible cost.
Through disciplined financial stewardship, the Office of the Treasurer plays a critical role in maintaining the University’s fiscal strength, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.
